Our lives with Pembroke Corgis started In 1984 we purchased Merthyr Simply Charming and had our first success at Show level coming 2nd in the Baby Puppy Stakes at the National Dog Show this was to start us out on something that has been a big part of our lives. Over the years we have produced in excess of 25 Champions which has given us great pleasure when they carry the Delwyn prefix, the corgis that stand out in the Champion line up would be CH Delwyn Miriam Makeba (our first home breed Champion) CH Delwyn Midnight Melody our first All Breeds Best In Show winner, Aust, NZ CH Delwyn Mighty Quinn the only dog that we have campaigned in Australia, last but not least is Hamish CH Delwyn Silver Sequence who went Junior IN Show at the National Dog Show only to die at a young age when he could have achieved a lot more. Photos of these dogs can be seen on ‘our dogs’ page. Importing has been done on a selective basis and we have mainly imported dogs over the years. Today Shirley and Adele (daughter) are very active in dog showing and looking after the Kennel on a day basis. Both Shirley and Lyn are active members of the Central Welsh Corgi League. Due to a selected breeding programme, puppies and mature dogs are sometimes available. As of the 1st July Delwyn Corgis would like to welcome Magda Du Preez and Mau Mag Corgis based in Temuka as these two kennels move into a joint arrangment for the future. My love for Pembroke Welsh Corgi’s started when I was 16 years old. I use to work after school for a lady who had Pembroke Welsh Corgi’s. When one of them got into welp, I would sit and feel the puppies in her tummy and talk to them. When they arrived, I was right there and picked my very first Pembroke Welsh Corgi. This is Zorga, male, not registered with myself in 1998.I am very new to the showing of dogs, but it’s always been a lifelong dream of mine. Emigrating from South Africa, it was all new and I purchased my very first registered Corgi, Delwyn For Your Eyes Only from Lyn and Shirley Nicol. A Year later I bought Delwyn Caramel Dream and started showing in the ring. Caramel Dream took the very first show I entered as just a puppy. From There on we show regularly and enjoy all the company and support around the ring.
